Christmas Feast
December 25, 2014
It is a yearly 'tradition' to take time off during December to visit winter countries and spend our Christmas overseas. Since we 'breach the tradition' this year, I decided that Christmas should be way more special than dining in restaurants. I mentioned the idea of roasting our own Turkey to Dad and he was very very keen in it. Thank God for foodie Dad.
Roasting a turkey isn't that troublesome afterall. Just takes a little more effort but it's totally manageable. We did a little research and decided to take the safest path by following Gordon Ramsey's recipe and of course it did not fail us!
We were all scrambling around the house, trying to keep things neat and at the same time everything was in a mess. Everyone was everywhere and everyone is calling everyone's name.
The Turk weighs around 4.6kg and it took me close to 2 hours of roasting (30 min per kg). We buttered the bird the day before and I started roasting at 10am today even though it was meant for dinner. Totally worth waking up early just to perfect this dish.
Let the feast begin!
Waiting patiently for the Turk to be sliced properly.
What a splendid Christmas dinner with my relatives and family!
Jolly Christmas to all and have a very blessed final few days of 2014 x
