Jiou Fen is located high up on the hill.
Just like the night before, we took another route that we were unfamiliar with and chanced upon this Breakfast Shop. They don't have long queues but they have everlasting queue where customer A, orders customer B comes in line and customer C arrives with customer A walking out of the shop with her packed breakfast. This cycle repeats.
There are a lot of choices for burgers like beef, bacon, sausage omeletes and many more that I cannot remember. Each burger costs around NT25 to NT35 (SGD1.06 ~ SGD1.49) and it's a really huge burger. It's around the size of Big Mac or slightly smaller than that of Quarter Pounder. Sumptuous and ultra affordable breakfast to kick start our second day in Taipei!
My skin condition deteriorated in Taiwan. I strongly believe that their water is dirty or maybe my skin is too sensitive. Every time I visit Taiwan, my skin condition worsens. The boss of this breakfast shop was really kind to treat me a drink that helps nourish my skin. Blessed beyond words!
After breakfast, we followed our plan which was to go to Jiou Fen via public transport - Bus.
If memory didn't fail me, the price of the bus ticket to Jiou Fen is quite expensive (Around NT250?).
You can take MRT to Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT and from there, go to the Passenger Service counter to ask for directions to go to Jiou Fen. The MRT attendant that we met was very prepared for visitors going to Jiou Fen because when we approached her, she was already holding a small stack of paper that tells us how we can get to the bus stop (As shown below). Easier task for them and more convenient for us. Win-win situation! On the way to the bus stop, there will be cab drivers offering you a trip up to Jiou Fen. We rejected all and went ahead with our bus ride.
Most bus stops in Taipei does not have a shelter unlike Singapore's one. This is one of the bus stops that doesn't have shelter. There will be people queueing for it and most of them would be queueing to go to Jiou Fen as well. You can catch Bus 1062. It's a 2 hours + journey.
I've waited for 2 years to taste this ultra good Escargots again.
Doraemon drink that contains those preserved orange slices. I also can't make up the ingredients but the syrup itself can be used as jam spread. I bought a bottle of the syrup home since it's a home-made recipe that can be kept for a year. It's my mum's kind of drink so I thought this would be a perfect souvenir for her. The drink is sweet and it's said to help with our lungs? Somewhere along that line.
There is a shop that sells our childhood toys and candies. I think one of the indicators of growing out of teenage years would be when you start seeing shops selling candies and toys that you can identify them as I-played-them-when-I-was-younger. Indeed, we've all grown out of adolescent years, stepping into the young adult world in a few years time - like 2 years.
We caught the same bus, 1062, back to Sogo!
Dinner was at Sogo's Din Tai Fung. It's cheaper than Singapore but quite a lot and somehow, the food is a little fresher.
Most of the Tai Tais dine in Din Tai Fung. So we were surrounded by Tai Tais. Picky Tai Tais, Showy Tai Tais or Attention Seeking Tai Tais, they are all around us.
One basket of Xiao Long Bao costs only around SGD3+ (Mega cheap)!
I forgot the price of Zha Jiang Mian already but it's also relatively cheaper.
My favourite yam paus that I'll have every time I visit Din Tai Fung.
Our bill total up to $9 + per person only (If I didn't remember wrongly also).
