I must say we didn't really follow our itinerary in KaoHsiung entirely and ended up with quite a lot of random walking and shopping.
It's definitely a good idea to bring along your laptop overseas so that you can search
online for different places to visit lest you don't want to follow the itinerary that day.

The entire post revolves around our last day in KaoHsiung where we randomly hop around the shops.
We even visited their small scale supermart and did quite a lot of shopping for lots of candies and chocolates.
The prices are relatively cheaper than in Singapore and they have a huge variety of crackers and never-seen-before creative products for 'convenient-living'.

So, let's get this post started!

Duck noodles.

This is our breakfast at Kao Hsiung on a particular random shopping day.
Most of the time, our breakfasts were breads we bought from bakery shop the night before.
Settled for noodles that costs around SGD2+. Their noodles have really good seasoning.
Just soy sauce and sesame oil yet it's so so so delicious.
The stall is right outside the MRT station where we have to walk past daily.
Each night we return, we'll definitely see a long queue for their spring roll or Pohpiah.

We entered a random shopping mall that is the nearest from KaoHsiung Main Station MRT and headed straight up the escalator to the level that sells food. Yes, food.
It's one of those shopping malls where they sell the special delicacies available in Taiwan or KaoHsiung alone.
Huge and tall sticks of milk biscuits, bigger than the Giant-sized Pocky (If you've seen one in Singapore).
Super fragrant Taro delicacies and the must-try Mua Chee in Taiwan can be found there.



We walked pass a shop that sells Chinese Teas and decided that we should try the different types of Chinese tea available in KaoHsiung.
I definitely enjoyed the tea-sampling session because we were attended by a young lady who was very
willing to share her knowledge on teas and brew different types of tea that we requested to try.
Ultra good service attitude. *double thumbs up*



The fragrance of the teas that we enjoy largely depends on our personal liking towards the different flavours of the leaves.
Some may like the tea to taste a little stronger while some prefer mild tea fragrance.

She had a timer with her to time the duration of the tea being soaked in hot water.
20 seconds, 30 seconds and 40 seconds.
It all depends on which type of tea leaves that you are sampling that determines the time needed to bring out the taste.
Each brew of the same tea leaves but of different timings will bring out different fragrance.
Perhaps the second brew will bring out the flower fragrance that the first brew wasn't able to.
I've learnt quite a bit about tea leaves within that short 30 minutes of sampling.

NT39 = SGD1.60
Since JingEn and I frequent Daiso a lot, it's very natural that we would enter this shop in Taiwan.
Nothing ultra special about Daiso in Taiwan except that they don't sell their things at a flat price of NT39.
In Singapore, everything is literally $2 including the food section but in Taiwan, Daiso's food costs more than NT39.
I don't quite remember the exact price but I remember that it amounted to around SGD2 as well.
Not much of a difference for us but definitely a difference for Taiwanese who lives there.

This is just another random bubble tea shop in KaoHsiung.
Ultra good drink, Winter Melon Tea w/ Ice Cream that costs slightly more than SGD2.
I don't think we can ever find any Ice Cream Bubble Tea in Singapore that costs as low as 2 bucks.

Chanced upon this cafe, 51 Cafe, and thought it would be nice if we could sit and rest for awhile.
All the food and beverages are home recipe by the lady boss.
A perfect place for BFFs or small groups of friends to sit and chill.
Really cozy and provides free wi-fi!
It's a few lanes down from Kai Hsiung MRT Station.






They have a bunny named Bunny.
Pretty huge bunny. Love you bunny!




The Lady Boss treated us to her handmade cookies because she knows we were tourists.
Really blessed to have been treated so well everywhere we go :')

Delicious Fried Mushrooms that uses only salt and pepper as seasoning.
Never underestimate such minor flavourings because they can create fireworks in our taste buds.

Lots of stalls are selling grilled or barbequed seafood.






Quail eggs that we had for both nights in KaoHsiung.
Ultra high cholesterol food but it's a must because we only get to eat such nice food in Taiwan!

I loveeeee how the egg turns white when being cooked in the small pockets of the tray.
Last chapter of Organic Chem - Due to extreme heat, don't know what structure in the egg broke the don't know what bonds that caused it to turn white.
There. JC Chemistry in an eggshell. LOL.




After eating all the fried food for 2 days, we need fruits to balance the bad diet hahaha.
Cheers to a huge cup of ice blended fruit juice with lots of fruits topped on it!

How to get there by MRT:

Kaohsiung MRT orange line Yanchengpu Station (O2 station) exit 1.
Walk for five minutes along Dayong Road and you will arrive.
There will be banners that will lead you to this place right outside Exit 1.






Right opposite Pier 2, there's this shop that specialises in Banana flavoured ice cream.
We were at first curious at why everyone is stopping at this ice cream shop for ice cream and everyone would be holding an ice popsicle that is yellow in colour.
Since the sun was really hot, we thought it would be good that we can sit and enjoy a cup of ice cream float.



I ordered Red Tea Float and expected the ice cream to be in vanilla flavoured but to much surprise, they gave Banana ice cream!
The best part about their Banana ice cream is that the flavour isn't so rich that you feel like you're chewing a banana.
It's smooth and the taste of banana comes evenly, not too sweet, purrrrrfect!



There are many exhibitions held at Pier 2 yearly.
The exhibition that was on when we were there was about films, photography, digital animation, product design and architecture done by students.
We paid NT99 (SGD4~) per person for this exhibition and I think it's totally worth it.
There are so many amazing creations and work by the students. Great exposure indeed.
















I shall call this a 'dream house'.












A really nice cafe concept that I would frequent if it was to be realised.














Liu He Ye Shi -  A night market with a lot of seafood.
We settle our daily dinner at this night market since it's a stone throw away from our hostel.
We did not buy any apparels or shoes at this ye shi because we believe we'll see cheaper and better goods in Taipei's night markets (Which is very true).

















I shall end this post with my outfit for the day!



The temperature was 24 degrees but the sun was as hot as what we feel in Singapore.
I love KaoHsiung's weather because despite of the hot sun, the wind was cooling which did not allow us to even have a drop of sweat while we walk under the sun.
